At BodyMind transformations, we offer auditory training and neurofeedback to improve reading ability. Where considerations other than reading ability must be taken into account, other neurotherapies are also available.

Auditory Training

These 6 case studies from a Florida charter school show pre- and post-[iLs] program data measuring changes in reading ability. After completing the 4-month [iLs] program, the average gain in reading ability was 2.2 years (comparing beginning Lexile Level with Ending Lexile Level).
Hope Charter School Case Studies, 2006

A variety of normed, standardized tests were used to assess 20 children with learning difficulties before and after iLs programs. The report includes their pre- and post-program test scores as well as teacher and parent comments. Teachers involved in the program reported “significant improvement” in 19 of the 20 children.
Denver Elementary School Pilot Study, 2009

Often, the only intervention necessary to improve reading ability is the rental of a bone conduction auditory training system (iLs Focus) for use at home. These units have been developed based on Dr. Ron Minson's training with Dr. Alfred Tomatis in Paris. We also sell the units and offer auditory training intensives in our office.

Renting vs. Buying an iLs Focus

Short Term Rental is Ideal for Those Who:

* Have the discipline to do the training for 1 hour daily, 6 days a week.
* Want to see a demonstration of the system performance before they buy.
* Want ongoing support during the training period.

Renting the unit costs less than half the purchase price, as long as you complete the training (30 sessions) in a 5 week period. 99% of our clients only do 1 round of auditory training and get fabulous results, so unless you want to use the system on an on-going basis, renting is the most economical solution.

Buying a Unit is Ideal for Those Who:

* Want to use the system yearly or at other intervals to reap additional benefits.
* Want to complete the training at their own convenience or use the system with the entire family.
* Will not need ongoing support beyond 2 hours of initial consult and equipment training.

If there are other neurodevelopmental considerations (such as autism) that require periodic or on-going training, then buying a unit is most economical solution.

Neurofeedback

Five months of neurofeedback appear to be working wonders…."He reads more books than I've ever seen him read -- ever-- since he started school and his grades have improved immensely.” CBS News Article.

The goal of this research was to ascertain whether... reading scores could be improved using neurofeedback.... Neurofeedback was more effective in improving reading tests than no neurofeedback training.... Neurofeedback training was more effective in improving both the Verbal and Full Scale IQ scores than no neurofeedback training.... The results support the hypothesis that biofeedback training is effective in improving reading quotients.
